Region IX Files SCOTUS Amicus Brief in Affirmative Action Cases

Region IX filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard University and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, ensuring representation before the Court on a critical civil rights issue impacting the Black community.

Director Evans secured amicus counsel for Region IX, helped draft the amicus brief, and convinced more than 20 other bar associations and civil rights organizations to co-sign. Defending Affirmative Action before the United States Supreme Court is one of the most important civil rights issues of our lifetime, and Region IX led the way.

In the past year, Region IX has been helping law firms, Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, and nonprofits navigate the Affirmative Action Decision.

Region IX has also hosted multiple CLE programs across the United States in an effort to preserve scholarship programs and educational opportunities for Black people and other People of Color. In addition to numerous virtual MCLE programs on the Affirmative Action Decision, Region IX has delivered in-person DEI and Civil Rights presentations at major national and regional conferences.
